Where are they now ? (part 1)

Writer's picture: Elsa MoreiraElsa Moreira

Nicolas Zepeda
Nicolas Zepeda

Narumi Kurosaki’s killer lost his appeal in December 2023. He had confessed that he went to see Narumi on purpose, but still denies murdering her. His lawyers, probably desperate, tried to say that she could have disappeared voluntarily, before offering a hypothesis according to which she could have accidentally hit her head on the radiator in her room, making the crime go from first-degree murder to assault resulting in death without premeditation. Yeah, sure…

Not only has Nicolas still not revealed the location of Narumi’s body, he has filed a second appeal, with the French Supreme Court this time. His demand was examined on January 22nd, 2025, but he won’t get an answer before February 26th. His lawyers have hinted at a third appeal with the European Court of Human Rights if this one doesn’t work out.

Isn’t he getting tired of all of this ?

Martine Escadeillas

Sadly, Joel Bourgeon committed suicide in January 2024 at 60, before his appeal. That means that he will forever remain innocent in the eyes of the law, and that chances of finding Martine’s body have reduced to…well, almost none.

Guy Georges
Guy Georges

Despite what you can hear on French TikTok, Guy Georges is still in prison. He hasn’t asked for parole, even though he has been able to do so for a while. He seems content in prison, where he has befriended Jonathann Daval, sentenced to 25 years in 2020 for strangling his wife and burning her body in the woods. They often drink coffee together. Nice…

Hubert Caouissin
Hubert Caouissin

Incarcerated in 2021 for the murder of 4 in-laws, Hubert Caouissin asked the court in 2024 to give him back…the shovel he used during the crime. His partner in life and in crime, on the other hand, has asked for the family photos. In the end, the courts decided to destroy all the elements taken into evidence. Press F to pay respect to the shovel, I guess…

Francis Heaulme (source: RTL)
Francis Heaulme (source: RTL)

The serial killer, already sentenced to life, has been indicted again in 2023 for the murder of Jean-Joseph Clément, committed in 1989.

Jean-Joseph was a 59-year-old agricultural machinery repairman who was found beaten to death in Bédarrides, near Avignon. Francis had been seen, and even spoken to by policemen not far from the scene of the crime, but prosecution failed to prove his guilt.

New elements have allowed the case to be reopened, but it seems to be an uphill battle because some of the evidence has been lost over the years. Let’s keep our hopes up regardless…

Video of an inmate presumed to be El Borgi

A video went viral for a short time last year on French social media. On it we can see an inmate presumed to be Thierry El Borgi, part of the group of killers known as the "Paratroopers of Francazal". He complains about not being released despite finishing his mandatory sentence, and says that he is learning to use euros, since he was already incarcerated when the French francs were taken out of circulation. Despite my minimal efforts, I just can't summon any pity...

That’s it for the updates ! I’m going to try publishing the next case next week, but in the meantime let me know if you want me to cover something in particular in the comments or on r/Murder_Wine_Cheese. I hope you’ll find some money on the ground today, and I’ll see you next time!
